Focusing on YOU is NOT Selfish: The New Moon in Aries (March 31/April 1, 2022)

Jennifer Schmid

The Aries Lunar Cycle, which begins tonight at 11:24p PDT/2:24a EDT, brings a potent energy shift from the dreamy depths of Pisces into the raw determination of Aries. While we may feel safer “hiding” under the waters (or blankets) of Pisces, Aries forces us to be RAW-THENTIC, as my friend, Melinda, and one of my favorite Aries suns, likes to say – we’re raw, authentic, and ready to face the world with the light of the sun shining on our face. This new infusion of life, light, and warmth can spring us into planting new seeds, seeds to grow our best selves, IF we’re willing to focus our attention on where it needs to go.

One of the reasons Aries energy emboldens us is because it encourages us to focus on ourselves with courage, conviction, and daring. There is nothing complacent about Aries! Aries has a tendency to make us want to go-go-go and also do our own thing. Why sleep when life is waiting for us?! You may find yourself taking more risks than usual.

You may also notice that while a lot of people spending the majority of their time in victim mode, blaming others for their lot, a lot of people are shifting out of it, taking responsibility for themselves and their circumstances. What they discover in doing so – in shedding the blame and victimhood – is that they’ve been sovereign all along. They hold the power within, which brings new freedoms and opens portals they didn’t know existed.

We’ll especially experience the polarity of victimhood and sovereignty with this New Moon, which is conjunct Chiron the wounded healer and also approaching a conjunction to Mercury, the messenger and alchemist. The more we focus on ourselves and our own healing, the more we can help others on their journey. It’s a win-win!

Of course, those who are stuck in victim mode often call those who aren’t “selfish” because they don’t understand or don’t want to face their own inner sovereignty.  Hopefully you know that focusing on yourself is NOT selfish. You’ve got your unique purpose in the world, and the world is so much better with you in it! On the other hand, compromising your light and gifts, holding back on who you are and what you are here to do can have a negative impact on others in ways we can’t even imagine.

No matter where you are on your journey, the most important step you can take with this Aries energy is to get yourself out into nature. It doesn’t matter if you lie on the grass, take a walk, do T’ai Chi, play with the kiddos, or run a marathon. Nature helps us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to reset our systems when things get a little too wild and crazy out there.

The questions to ask yourself with this New Moon are:

  • Who am I really? Who do I want to be and what’s stopping me?

  • How would I really show up in the world if I didn’t give three f*%ks about what other people thought?

  • How would my life be different if I didn’t take anything personally or never allowed myself to be a victim?

Allow the answers to these questions be your fuel for the next 30 days, until the next New Moon on April 30.

Have the courage to be your most authentic self, and the Sun, Moon, Earth and stars will take care of the rest.

I love you,

Divinely Jennifer
